FREQUENCY is used in science generally to denote the number of variations which occur in unit time. In medicine (q.v.) the frequency of the pulse. In light (q.v.) it denotes the num ber of cycles executed by the electromagnetic vector per second. In sound (q.v.) the number of variations in pressure per second at a point as sound passes that point.
