NOTES ON THE PRINCIPAL SEAS BELONGING TO THE ATLANTIC.

The Atlantic Ocean is distinguished from all the other great divisions of the ocean by the number and magnitude of the "seas" belonging to it of which the principal strictly inland seas are—the Baltic, the Mediterranean, the Sea of Marmora, Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov—all on its eastern side. It will be advisable, also,

to give a few particulars relative to the Caspian Sea, although it does not belong to the Atlantic, but is in reality a vast salt-water lake.
