URIBE, Antonio Jose, Colombian lawyer : b. Medellin, Colombia, 6 March 1869. He was educated at the universities of Antioquia and Bogota, Colombia; was professor of the history of Spanish literature at the University of An tioquia in 1891-92. He was Secretary of Agri culture in 1891, member of Assembly in 1894 and from 1894 to 1911 was professor of civil and international law and of the history of diplomatics at the University of Bogota, where in 1903-04 he also was rector of the faculty of law and political science in 1903-04. He has also served as counsel to the Ministry of For eign Relations and in 1903-04 was Minister of Public Instruction, president bf the Senate in 1909 and of the House of Representatives in 1912. Mr. Uribe was one of the founders of the American Institute of International Law and is member of various European scientific and literary societies.
