Biella the chief town, on the slope and at the foot of a hill on the right bank of the Cervo, has a college, manufactures of silks and woollens, and a population of 8000. The trade of the town in raw-silk, oil, chestnuts, and wine is considerable. Biella gives title to a bishop.
